Attributions for names we use, licences for work we build on, and a plain statement of who is and is not affiliated with whom.

Ownership

Red Polygon S.T., the Red Polygon S.T. mark, Green Engine and Backrooms Universe, together with all original code, art, text and audio produced by the studio, are the property of Red Polygon S.T. unless stated otherwise on this page.

The Backrooms

The Backrooms is a collaborative fiction that originated with an anonymous post in 2019 and was developed by the community writers of the Backrooms Fandom and Backrooms Wikidot sites. Red Polygon S.T. did not create it and does not claim to own it.

Levels, entities, items and phenomena adapted from that body of work are used under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0. Every adapted entry carries, both in game and in the wiki, the original title, the source URL, the named original authors, the licence, and a note describing what was changed in adaptation. Entries that cannot carry those fields do not get published.

The source communities

These are the wikis the canon lives on. If you want to read the originals, or write something new, this is where it happens. Go and support them.

Red Polygon S.T. is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any of them, nor with Fandom Inc. or Wikidot Inc.

Trademarks

The following are the property of their respective owners. Their appearance on this site is nominative: we name them to say truthfully what our software runs on or is built with. It does not indicate any affiliation with, sponsorship by, or endorsement from any of them.

  • Microsoft, Windows, DirectX and Direct3D are trademarks of the Microsoft group of companies.
  • Linux is a registered trademark of Linus Torvalds.
  • Vulkan is a registered trademark of the Khronos Group Inc.
  • Rust and the Rust logo are trademarks of the Rust Foundation.
  • OpenGL is a registered trademark of Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
  • Intel is a trademark of Intel Corporation. The Intel Sponza scene used in our renderer captures is published by Intel as part of the Intel Graphics Research Samples Library. The Sponza atrium it descends from was modelled by Marko Dabrovic.

All other product names, logos and brands mentioned anywhere on this site are the property of their respective owners.

Open source

Green Engine is built on open source work by other people. The full dependency list with licence texts ships with the engine. Where a licence requires attribution or the distribution of its terms, those terms travel with every build.

The site itself sets Noto Sans and Fira Code, both used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

Content on this site

Screenshots on this site are real-time captures from Green Engine, taken from work in progress. Nothing shown is a target render, a pre-rendered cinematic, or a mock-up, and none of it has post-processing applied after capture. It is also not final. What ships will differ.
